Have you heard of the drama between Mixmash & Beatport?

Mixmash, who recently released a collaboration between Laidback Luke & Tujamo, “S.A.X.“, had their track removed from Beatport for what they say was a marketing strategy that, “impacted Beatport policies regarding chart eligibility”.  “S.A.X.” had quickly risen to #1 on the charts before being removed.

In a world where anything can be bought with enough money, including hit records, chart positioning and fans, is what Mixmash did so wrong?  Labels and artists must always come up with new and innovative ways to market releases and keep fans interested, but did Mixmash’s marketing strategy warrant Beatport’s take down of the track?
