Canadian artist Lou Val has been turning heads and honing in on his craft for the last several years. Initially, like so manny artists these days, it all began on Soundcloud where to date he has seen more than 1M streams. Making the transition from Soundcloud uploads to commercial releases seemed to be the next step and a natural progression.
Having already found support from OVO Sound Radio, Pigeons & Planes, Noisey and Spotify, Lou Val is making a clear impact both at home and abroad. Ready to make a major impact this year, he has recently released his debut EP, “Lonely in Paradise”, and it is a gem. The lead single, “The Earth Stood Still”, is a dreamy and sensitive blend of R&B, Indie and Electronic.
Over a muted guitar complimented only by some percussive drum programming, the vocals carry the tune from beginning to end. For me this track works in its simplicity and execution. The smooth track pulls the listener in and makes sure to keep hold. No huge drops, crazy technical production techniques or distracting synth work – just clean production and beautiful vibes.
