If you follow the blog, then you probably know I have a serious thing for the UK vibe. Always ahead of the curve when it comes to trends, I am always on the look out for new artists and London artists Dockem & Malone are officially on my radar.
Having seen early support across GRM DAILY as well as from DJ Semtex at BBC R1Xtra, Spotify’s Rap UK and VIPER MAGAZINE, the Portsmouth based duo have seen a fast rise in the ever-evolving UK scene. With their debut EP ready to be released, the duo have recently unleashed a new remix of their recent single, “Get Right”, and it has been getting plenty of spins from me on Spotify.
In contrast to the original, the remix brings a more melodic, bubbly vibe to the track while making sure to maintain the heavy basslines. Beneath the slick bars and fire delivery, bright synths and a bit of an Afro-Pop feel take over helping the tune to achieve a more commercially friendly sound.
Fresh off their their performance at Stormzy’s #Merky Festival, their performance in association with War Child at Camden Assembly, and the launch of their new club night “FLEX UP” on 23rd August, Dockem & Malone show no signs of letting up leading to the release of their debut EP. With a BBC Introducing, “Live Lounge”, session lined up and more releases on the horizon, I have no doubt that we will be hearing a lot more about Dockem & Malone in the coming months. All I know is I will be keeping tabs.
