The second I heard this tune, I knew it had to be JAM OF THE WEEK.
New Zealand producer BAYNK is no stranger to RockDafuqOut. With nearly every release that lands in my inbox, it is pretty much a guarantee that I will supporting – not because we are friends… but because he brings the heat. Every. Damn. Time.
Fresh off of his debut headlining North American summer tour, now ready to destroy the fall with a set of new dates, BAYNK has teamed up with highly sought after UK artist Sinead Harnett for, “Settle”. The mellow yet groovy new release is an absolute gem and I will no doubt have it in rotation for sometime to come. Rich Electronic textures meld beneath the vocals to create a sensitive and emotional jam, showing both artists at the top of their game. When asked about how the collaboration came to be, BAYNK offered, “Meeting Sinead for the first time was like seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in 10 years. Catching up about what we’d missed over the years led to settle being written. I didn’t want to overshadow the touching vocal with intense production so I left it minimal and let the words dictate the music.”For me, the pairing seemed like a match made in heaven (thank you music gods). While both artists have had some major success of their own, the new collaboration only helps to add to their hype. Sinead Harnett has collaborated in the past with top tier artists like Disclosure, Rudimental, and Ryan Hemsworth and she once again proves that she is a dominant vocal force on her latest release. About the collaboration she adds, “The first day I met BAYNK was the day we wrote settle. As soon as I walked into the room I felt like he was family. I always enjoy those writing sessions the most because you feel comfortable enough to open up. The story behind the song was based on the in between before you’re with someone and after you’ve started seeing each other. That dreaded unknown and the confession that you do want it to move forward. BAYNK’s clean heart translates in his music and I’m so excited for us to do more together!”
Make sure you give this one a spin and get all up in your feelings… Then spin it again – I know you’re going to want to.
