Chec Makes RDFO Return with ‘Up 2 U’

Electronic/Pop duo Chec have had a great year so far – and it seems to only be the beginning.

Originally from Portland, Chec is a duo comprised of vocalist/songwriter Elliot Cain and producer Cooper Holzman (aka Holz).  While both artists may have come from an Alternative Rock background, since first beginning to collaborate 8 years ago, they have switched gears – now creating vibrant Electronic Pop tunes that seem to be connecting with the masses.  With their recent releases racking up hundreds of thousands of plays and finding their way into Spotify owned playlists, there is no doubt that Chec is onto something. While it wasn’t too long ago that we featured their single, “Santa Fe”, they have recently followed up with a new single, “Up 2 U”, and it is yet another stand out release from the buzzing duo.  Featuring beautiful guitar riffs, funky vocal chops and a whole lot of bounce, the new tune is as emotional as it is groovy. Adding to the hype around the release, they have also unleashed a new remix from Miller Guth – another artist who has had an outstanding year in his own right.  Looking to enhance what he liked most about the original, he builds around the vocals and adds a more dance friendly groove.  Fatter basslines, a bit more percussion and some funky chops is all he needs to bring this one to the next level.  About his remix efforts, Miller says, “I was sent the original song and instantly fell in love with the vibe and the vocals. With this remix I aimed to build off the upbeat, poppy vibe of the original by adding more dance-focused elements. The result is a dance/pop hybrid that combines vocal chops, synths, organic instrumentation and unique drum programming.

Keep an eye on Chec.  They have a whole lot more coming.
