Charles Van Kirk & Luisa Marion Make Debut with ‘Voyeur’

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… there isn’t much that gets me more excited than a stand out debut.  Fresh off the press, new artists Charles Van Kirk (Brooklyn) and Luisa Marion (Nashville) have teamed up for their debut single, “The Voyeur”.  While the tune was released several weeks ago, I have been keeping it ok heavy rotation in my personal playlists.  In what has the be the most over saturated market for new music that has ever existed, it is more important than ever to bring some originality to the scene – and that is exactly what they have done here.

From the very beginning, haunting pads, interesting production and eerie plucks catch your attention before the vocals come in.  With both artists singing harmonies, on top of the minimal yet attention grabbing production, the mood is instantly set before slowly building up to the hook.  Distorted guitar leads, and playful vocal rhythms take over to pick up the energy a bit before returning to the next verse.  From beginning to end, the track keeps listeners entertained with tension building from the very first note until the release at the very end.

While the production is cool, impressive and provoking throughout the song, it is the vocals that really take hold.  With Louisa soaring on the track and Charles lending support, the stunning vocals help to drive home the lyrics which they say is about, “men watching women and women observing themselves being watched by men. The narrator wishes to reclaim her sense of voyeurism.
