Looking to close out the year strong, RockDafuqOut Records label head BRKN BLVD is back yet another major bop, titled, “Missing Out.” Serving as his sixth single of 2024 and his nineteenth release since March 2022, “Missing Out,” is a bouncy, heartfelt, introspective bop that feels both personal and universal in its sentiment. With a knack for penning tunes that relate on a hyper-human level, BRKN BLVD allows the lyrics to cut deep, while the production by one of LA’s secret weapons, Sean Kennedy (GAYLE, UPSAHL, Nessa Barrett, JAWNY, Royal & the Serpent) sets a playful, bouncy, haunting-yet-upbeat vibe.
With a gritty and dynamic performance by BRKN BLVD sitting on top, the back and forth in both the lyrics and arrangement creates a tug of war that is sure to leave the listener a bit torn. About the release, BRKN BLVD says, “This tune has actually my wife’s favorite since I wrote it. I suppose that’s because it does capture the tension and uncertainty we were dealing with for a bit. Even with love, sometimes it’s just hard to hold on. We’re still holding on, and I think this tune really captures the push and pull many of deal with when staring the possibility of having to let go of something/someone we love - dead in the face. I think the lyrics, “But I guess I’m better when you’re not around - - - I wish you’d come around some more” says it all.”
With no hopes of making it as a real, touring, frontline artist, since its inception, BRKN BLVD has been little more than a passion project designed to feed the label catalog, test strategy and stack masters. Only aiming to continuously release, well written, professionally produced, high-caliber tracks, BRKN BLVD has been able to maintain over 10K monthly listeners on Spotify for nearly the last two years, while amassing nearly a million streams across platforms and slowly but surely securing a real, engaged, hungry-for-more fanbase – one release at a time.
