Originally hailing from North Wales, but now residing in London, indie artist Cara Hammond has been making waves and following her own rules. Starting her career early on, writing songs at age 11 and beginning to perform at 14, Cara has spent nearly her whole life creating music. Between her quality songwriting, beautiful vocals and her captivating live performances, Cara Hammond has already added some major accolades to her resume including playing over 100 gigs, writing for BMG and Sony ATV in the Netherlands, writing with Universal Music in Stockholm, graduating from Leeds College of Music, being named as BBC Introducing Artist of the Week on the national radio show ‘BBC Georgey Tonight‘, and performing at a BBC Introducing showcase in January 2017.
Now prepping to the release of her new EP, “Nice Girl”, in early 2019, Cara Hammond has begun to unleash some new material into the world. The first offering came with, “How I Feel”, which landed in 11 Spotify NMF playlists around the world – no easy task for an indie artist – and has also seen support from BBC 6.
Following up on that success, Cara Hammond has recently dropped her new single, “Try to Love You”, which once again showcases her knack to create soulful, R&B infused, Pop leaning jams. About the new single she says, “Try to Love You’ is a bitter-sweet, indie-pop track about those relationships we know aren’t working but try our best to keep them together anyway. It’s a song that holds a retro groove that makes you want to dance…”
The new single relies on a clean, funky production that brings an organic, light hearted and pumping groove to the track. As always, Cara’s vocals one again steal the show, delivering a powerful and emotional performance that is as somber as it is sexy. Adding to the releases appeal, Cara has also delivered an official video reminiscent of Kiesza’s, “Hideaway”, featuring Cara performing around the streets of London. Directed by her brother Ryan Hammond , the video only helps to bring the release to life while also giving listeners a closer look into cars bubbly personality and performances.
While some people try to separate business and family, Cara seemed more than excited to have her brother assist on the project. She says, “I was over the moon when Ryan agreed to direct and produce the music video, as he is a fantastic videographer who shares many of the same creative ideas as me. We decided that as I’ve just moved to London it made sense to film it in some of my favourite places. It’s fun, colourful and retro, with many different outfit changes, and many borderline “dad” dance moves.”
Keep an eye out for, “Nice Girl”, early next year, but for now Cara promises a couple more jams coming soon to keep us entertained for the time being.
