Toronto based duo Rainer + Grimm have had my attention since they first came into the scene in 2014. After meeting at music school and bonding over their love of club music, Rainer Millar Blanchaer and Jeff Crak came together first with a string of successful bootleg remixes that lit the blogosphere on fire and landed them several Hype Machine #1s. Their skill and popularity has only grown since then.
With some already massive accomplishments under their collective belt including Rainer’s co-writing credits on ‘Wicked Games‘ and ‘Party & the After Party‘ for The Weeknd as well as on Drake‘s ‘Shot For Me‘ – and Grimm having worked as assistant engineer to Noah ’40’ Shebib on Drake’s Grammy winning ‘Nothing Was The Same‘ album – R+G continue to wow audiences worldwide.
What started as an interest in bringing the infamous Toronto R&B scene and the underground dance music scene together, has flourished into so much more. Before we get into their new tune, I just want to take a minute and make sure you check out this gem – a record that I have been spinning heavily since it’s release and I feel went super under the radar in the US…
Now to the new music. Once again R+G are back, bringing sexy and seductive vibes to a chill and groovy dance jam. This time for, “Tempted”, they teamed up with Beach Season on vocals who brings a bit of soul and a lot of sex appeal to the track. Bringing a bit of a minimal tropical feel to the production, big delayed guitar strums, mix with a grooving bassline, some bright rhythmic plucks and playful percussion. From beginning to end the track transforms beneath the vocals keeping the listener hooked while making sure to maintain and deliver that oh so smooth R+G vibe.
To spice the release up even further, the new track comes along with an official video. Vintage set dressing, interesting shots, a bunch of lusting older women – and their temptation.
