Last year I was introduced to buzzing Swedish singer/songwriter ORKID via this jam…
Since then, she has continued to unleash a steady stream of originals, racking up millions of streams and landing on the radar of tastemakers worldwide. Raised in the capital of Pop, Stockholm, ORKID has been writing and performing since a young age. At the age of 16 she used the Idol stage to help launch the next step of her career. Now at 21, since finishing school and honing in on her abilities, she has traded in local stages for international success.
Recently, she has unleashed her 9th single, “Hands”, and it is a down-tempo, mid-range ballad that captivates at every turn. From the very first note, her impressive vocals sit front and center while a lush piano and minimal atmospheric elements add some extra layers to the fold. Building as the track develops, ORKID perfectly plays agains the production helping to create an incredibly dynamic and undeniably emotional tune.
With all of her early success since official launching her solo career, it seems that ORKID is quickly becoming one of Sweden’s most exciting Pop exports – and for good reason. Make sure you keep an eye on ORKID.
