Here’s something you don’t see too often.
Glaswegian drummer and studio musician Ryan Hassan has recently dropped a new single, “Bomb Squad”, featuring Kofi Stone who is featured on vocals spitting vicious bars. After years preforming alongside other artists (Tinie Tempah, Clean Bandit, Fat Man Scoop, Ella Eyre, Sigala), Ryan Hassan felt it necessary to come out of the shadows and build his own career as an artist – releasing original music is the first step.
Ryan and Kofi originally both met while providing support on the Tinie Tempah Greece Tour in 2013. When deciding who to use for vocals on, “Bomb Squad”, Kofi seemed a natural fit. The new tune (and video) is a high-energy jam, with Ryan banging away on the drums while Kofi goes in with a raw, aggressive, unadulterated flow. Big synths fill the rest of the space, but subtly, making sure the focus stays on the drums and bars.
The video is just another piece to the puzzle. Dark, intense and hard hitting visuals perfectly compliment the track, not only displaying the dynamic between the two artists, but it also adds even more oomph to the release.
